Hubby may well be right. According to Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primark

Primark opened it's first UK branch in 1973. It doesn't say where it is though. My earliest memory of Primark is in 1996 when I went into a Penneys (the name for Primark in southern Ireland) in Dublin.

Many Thanks Binky.....we've come to an agreement that we'll donate 10 each to Comic Relief...but I guess we'll still be arguing about it on 'Red Nose Day' next year!! Kind Regards...footymum
I know it's a bit late to resolve your argument but I used to work in the Bolton Primark on Saturdays in 1979/80.
