If your car is taxed why don't you display the correct tax disc?

If your car is taxed you will be charged with failing to display, it is not a crime, you will probably just get a 30.00 fine.
I have often gone without displaying the tax disc on my bike, primarily because they have a high incidence of being stolen from motorbikes.

The need to display comes from years past where the only evidence of taxation came from displaying the disc. These days a simple pnc check will confirm that the vehicle is taxed.

If you were stopped for other offences you might get done but other than that probably just a warning. If you did get done it would be a small fine only.
