if a person is 65 this month and is entitled to the increased tax allowance do they get it for the whole tax year or just for the remaining period of the tax year

They are entitled to the allowance for the full year.

Just a note, but you may already know! There is a limit on income (earned & unearned) and that is �20,100 to qualify.
