I am currently studying an education studies course and one of our tasks for assessment is to modernise a fairytale and present it to a junior school class. The fairytale we picked was Jack and the Beanstalk, but now we are trying to mke it age appropriate and related to issues and people that 7-11 year olds can relate to. Does anybody have any ideas? Or have seen something like this done before? Any adivce or ideas would be extremely apreciated.

If you google your heading above, lots of stuff comes up that may give you ideas & also read the wikipedia page - it has some interesting analysis of the story
There's a film that may be of interest: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0264262/ and Jasper Fforde's "The Big Over Easy" also features a version of J&tB.
