For those of you who work in an office, how do you decorate your workspace?
I just moved into a new office (shared with one other person) so now I have a blank slate. I have a desk, bulletin board, and many bookshelves all waiting to be personalised - any ideas??

I only have 2 concessions to personalizing my desk, and that is a piec of A4 on the notice board above me where I write the dates of CDs that are coming out.

A also have a weekly learning challenge up there. This week it's a map of the oceans and seas of the world.

All I have so far is a world map that's about 10 years old and very out-of-date!
I jobshare, so any decorations have to be mutually agreed. That means the only thing I have is a little beanie pony on the shelf. Everything else is shared.

At my old place, my space was my own, and I had a dog that sat on my windowsill and who wore a raincoat and carried a brolly. When you pressed his toe, he'd sing 'raindrops keep falling on my head'. I'd squeeze his toe when everyone in the office was feeling miserable.
standard office paraphernalia -

cuddly toy - preferably a gonk or a troll
photo frame of loved ones
mug for a pen pot, with novelty pens
some kind of stress toy
a ball of fluff with googly eyes and paper feet stuck to the computer screen.
childs drawing
postcard from friend (can be faked if you dont have one handy)
'humour' notice such as 'you don't have to be mad to work here...but it helps!'....etc these can be bought or made. slogans available online
plant...if space permits

optional extras -
fluffy frame to go around your monitor screen
a 'groovy' pen pot instead of mug
cushion for chair
fancy pictured mouse mat
humorous drinks coaster

bookshelf adornments can include -

a long strip of beads or fringe along the bottom edges of the shelves, or perhaps hologram tape along the edges
snow globe
and a frog that sits on the edge of the shelf

so, just get all that lot and you'll sorted!

Love the fake postcard idea, joko - I actually laughed out loud at that one!

Thanks for the ideas!
I have my kitten mouse pad, pictures of my dog, a coaster with a Samoyed on it, um thas it i think!
i have a mouse mat with a map of the Caribbean on it not able to have anything personal on the shop floor but my calendar is johnny Depp and i can keep that in the stockroom if i want, actually it isn't easy personalising a work space in retail, if i was in an office all week i would go all out and have everything with a sun sea and sand theme lol
If I had a desk I would decorate it with a large double choc chip muffin.
