couch
The dictionary says:
a couch has the head end only raised, and only half a back; a sofa has both ends raised and a full back; a settee is like a sofa but may be without arms;
there is no distinction between the dictionary definitions. they are interchangeable.

but i've always used settee. occasionally sofa. never couch.
i use all three.......its personal choice i think....
I've always called it a couch, Maybe regional? I'm N/W
My parents call it a settee, I call it a sofa. We are Northern. Possibly regional, yes, and is anyone else sick of sofa ads, while we are on the subject?!
