playing of the spoons??

i was in one of the local pubs ,when a well known irish old boy who we all love came in and started playing his spoons ,with some skill i may say,when the landlord kicked him out because he didnt have a music licence??weird but true..are the spoons a musical instrument???or is the landlord a pint short of a barrel???

Well, I'm not sure about the rest of the developed world, but in Ireland we still count the spoons as a traditional percussion instrument - my dad plays them spectacularly well!
And the landlord will almost certainly be wrong ... new licensing laws soon to come in in the UK mean councils get to choose what needs to be licensed, and the model by-laws suggest that only amplified music need be covered by a licence.
