My son had an accident 15months ago, swerved to avoid a car cutting him up, hit the kerb, lost control and hit 3 other vehicles. Summons came 2 months ago, solicitor advised plead not guilty, new date set, is tomorrow morning, now told cant get legal aid, cant afford to pay, and dont think he'll be able to defend himself. Having read other Q&A's It looks as if he has no chance. As he already has 6 points and will therefore lose his license and also his new job and be unemployed again I wonder if he should change his plea to guilty, try to explain and beg for his licence. Will they take any of this into consideration. Would be very grateful for any advice on what to do and say.

Thanks so much for all your answers and advise, there were so many I couldn't read them all. Thankfully, we stuck to our guns with a Not Guilty Plea, didnt even get inside the courtroom, and case was dropped. Had we pleaded guilty with an explanation of events, My son would have already lost his license and new job, all by post.
