Strange Song On Clasic FM Channel

I can't say it's my most watched channel but on sunday i was flicking through the music channels and there was a video that just made me stop. a black man with dreadlocks and glasses [fairly old] was sat in a leather swivel chair singing [used his hands a lot]. i couldn't work out what he was singing because it wasn't english but it was really soothing in a strange way. i'd really like to know who he was/ what the song was. can anyone help?
