We are dealing with probate for a relative who died recently and need to establish the value of some shares he held. Does anyone know of a website where we can obtain the closing share price on 13th February 2007? I tried the stock exchange website but could not find prices for shares other than todays prices.

Thanks for any help from other ABers

Regards

Your local library will probably have a file of back issues of the Financial Times. If you can't find a website try there.

You need the FT as you'll need both the bid and offer prices for probate - other papers don't generally give this.
No bid or offer prices here but you can get that day's opening and closing prices.

When you type in the EPIC make sure you put 'UK:' in front, ie: for Barclays

UK:BARC

If you don't know the EPIC they're pretty easy to find at sites like this -

http://www.northcote.co.uk/company_links/alpha .asp

These are mid market prices. The bid price (the price you sell at) will be slightly lower, and the offer price (the price you buy at) slightly higher.
The over zealous censor is at it again!

You'll have to type the link yourself.

The asterisks in between the two dots should be "market" and "watch".
