Outside Garden Tap stopped working

The tap outside has stopped working it is not frozen and it comes straight of the mains the downstairs kitchen tap is working fine (no loss of pressure) you can even take the whole tap of and not a drip comes out this was working only the other day ... any suggestions please :)

Hi Nicolee,

You will find that the washer is stuck and just requires freeing.

Turn off the water supply, unscrew the top of the tap and free washer, all in 20 minutes.

It sounds to me like you have a faulty non return/anti syphon valve . This is a device that prevents possibly polluted water returning in to the mains water supply and in recent years have become compulsory, it will probably located between the outside tap and the union where it joins the mains.
RATTER15 is probably right, ive had this happen on several occations. Its best to buy anew tap and swap it.
