This comment was taken from a part of one of mani hussain's reply ......'Therefore I will no longer ask for you to banned from answerbank. I'm here to clean up this site and the more you continue to post the easier it's going to be.' Full debate can be found here http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question36 8631.html Now that's a VERY wrong thing to say ~ to think that any one of us has the right to come on here and think that they can 'clean up' the site. Surely it's just not acceptable? It reeks of misplaced ideology and it smacks of suppression. WM, Whiffey, Crete, the russians and a long list of others have been banned by various individuals for things they said that offended, but no-one (to the best of my knowledge) has ever proffessed to embarking on this sort of 'clean up' crusade. When did they get appointed AB Ed?

i think we have freedom of speech up to a certain point, when it hurts someones feelings/ insulting or thretening behaviour towards others is not classed as freedom of speech. and is unacceptable.

also we have freedom of speech and mind and should speak out and oppose terrerism against our country and protect our rights to safety and harmony. we have the right to keep ourselves, our families and home safe against these mindless thugs who seek to destroy and kill, in this instance we should not be kept silent.
And somebody nicked my E

Thanks for your comments Devilwoman ~ However, what I was really after was whether the statement of intent of an individual to come on this site to 'clean it up' was acceptable.

Aw whiffy don't worry ~ you'll always be Whiffey to me lol.
trust me to muck it up again, i am but a simple soul, lol
How is this individual going to "clean up this site" then?
I mean, what can he/she do?
the hearts at top of page are getting a bit dusty, perhaps he/she has one of those feathery things to get into the awkward spots
samuel, i dont know what you are talking about,
I'm not in favour of any personal crusade against someone, and the unwritten AB rules seem to be that no-one is singled out like that. Report offensive posts if necessary, but extra threads just aren't cricket.

I know what you're saying samuel23, but this also infringes that for me.
I guess Mani is also entitled to talk his macho talk - I've seen much worse on the site. The fact is, unless he's the Ed, he can't do it, so it's just cyberwords.
Well you have just made yourself as guilty as he is. I think the whole naming and shaming thing that goes on in here is very childish. Surely an email to the editorial staff would be better served.

I also personally find the qusai~racist /homophobic comments, all tainted with the freedom of speech more offensive. Plenty of people that spoke on that thread often speak out against and entire race of people.
maybe he's one of those little men who live in our computers and has the power to terminate us!

maybe he's god!

Supernick. I understand your viewpoint although what I am asking is whether the attitude of a self proffessed crusader taking upon themselves to remove threads that don't fit their way of thinking is acceptable. I understand that singling people out and making offensive remarks about them is not acceptable, and I haven't reported the thread for the simple reason that in doing so I would be indulging in the very behaviour that I am concerned about ~i.e. free speech.
Goodsoulette ~ how does this make me as bad? I am advocating democracy and freedom, not promoting myself as an unappointed censor. So what if people have 'quasi homophobic or racist feelings? There are bigots in all walks of life and you will never ever be rid of them, far better to hear what they say and shoot them down with a well structured argument than to go grizzling to the site mediators. So be a dear, wiil you, and please engage your brain before posting an answer?

I think maybe mani himself might be thinking that one sentence was a bit OTT, but I clearly understand his frustration where AOG is concerned. AOG seems to be on a one man crusade to show the world how ugly his prejudices are.

Whilst i don't agree with posts deliberately targeting another user, I can't help but agree that the sooner AOG goes back to his village the sooner his village can get over the trauma of misplacing it's idiot.
samuel whats the point of this thread? why are you bothering trying to drum up awareness of comments made in another thread... and then when someone disagrees with you all you have to offer is some snotty insult, should goodsoulette now start ANOTHER thread listing her reasons for being annoyed - of course she won't cos she isn't an idiot like you

now be a dear and fcuk off
Cheer up, whiff..I am sure you can buy an E for about a fiver nowadays!
