I need to book my ferry to France and it asks if we are taking a trailer.
Not sure whether to beg or borrow a pod or a trailer to take the tent etc. Which do you think is best. A trailer will limit speed, surely. Is a pod big enough????

How much other room will you have in your car - after clothes / food / essentials / children? / dog? / cat? / kitchen sink etc? How big is tent?

Also if trailer is in good condition (tyres mainly) your speed will not be limited that much - they still seem to be hurtling past us at 70mph.

Thanks Machecoul I appreciate your reply (very philosophical too!)..Our tent is rather large and our Alfa Romeo has little boot space. We can minimise on clothing but we have a little cooker, a table and chairs. Oh and 2 kids. Do you think I might be hoping for miracles to get it into a roofbox?!
I think the trailer is the only option.
I would agree with you. I think the trailer is the only option. It will also let you take a few other things besides the kids! If you have roof bars you could put their bikes up there!! They would certainly enjoy riding round on them at most French sites - which can be amazingly safe. (We have been going to our campsite in France for so long we got a long service medal last year - true!!!)

Enjoy your holiday.
