hi
my husband is in the same situation and found this site helpful
http://www.tda.gov.uk/Recruit/becomingateacher .aspx
you could also try your nearest teacher training college/uni and ask them their requirements, a lot have regular open days
you need 5 GCSE's C's and above, or equivelent to get into uni, there you can do a 3 year combined degree followed by a 1 yr PGCE.......OR....... a 3 year QTS (qualified teacher status) but these are more difficult to get into plus they dont stand much of a punch if you decide to do something else other than teaching.
You could study for a degree through OU. Which doesn't require A levels and works on a points for modules system
