There is a shop I drive past whose window is plastered with signs saying that they specialise in Will Writing Estate Planning Enduring power of attorney etc. and are members of this society. Does this mean anything, or where else should I look for advice on these topics? I've heard it said that Solicitors don't always know the tax implications of wills.
don't! Always use a solicitor. You can get details of properly qualified solicitors in your area from the Law Society. You are more likely to get bad advice from an unqualified shop. If it turns out a solicitor has given you bad advice you have recourse through the law to compensation. The shop will not have this and may be gone at any time.
Thanks for your reply.
I have had the same advice (and contrary advice) on another thread.
Sorry about posting the same question twice, all my questions and answers were disappearing, but it seems to be sorted now
