How long do wild birds live for and do they pair for life?

Depends. Some of our garden birds have a very short lifespan - many less than a year! But there's a difference between average and maximum lifespans, and a few individuals can be relatively very long lived, perhaps 15 to 20 years. Read more here.
As to pairing for life, well, some do, some don't.
