After the fourth loss of an helicopter in the past fortnight, is this a sign that Bush's surge is going badly wrong?

The fact that the war seems to be escalating seems to suggest there is now involvement with other countries in the middle east willing to donate firepower. Many suggest it might be Iran. If so this problem will be with us for years to come.
It was interesting to hear that Mahadinogad (leader of Iraq) refused to deny arming the Shiites in Iraq against the coalition forces but his tone was that US forces should leave as quickly as possible. Make your own mind up?
