Am looking to buy a bible, can anyone tell me why most bibles I see only have the New Testament in? Whats wrong with the old testament?

thanks beckyboo0121, I am actually not religious at all but wanted to read it purely from a learning perspective, I do plan to read the Koran also at some point but I fugured because I was brought up RC so i know a bit about Chistianity that the Bible would be a good place to start.
