I've built up 1.4GB of family photos on my hdd..now want to put them someplace safe ....how do other people do this....am thinkng of using 3cds with roughly 500mb on each....then making copies of them and sending one set of copies to home (mum dad) for insertion in family stuff.....any suggestions? Should I buy expensive cdr's or are they all basically same quality? How about renting space on the internet? Thanks

Cd's are a good idea. Normally it doesn't matter how cheap they are as they will not burn if they are faulty as opposed to burning and then not reading. Best to keep them somewhere safe though.
I'd go for more expensive CD's. Thing is its the difference between say 50p and 1.50 a CD. Not particuarly a lot of money. I'd make master copies on good quality CD's (2 sets one you keep and another in a different location) and then a 3rd set which you could then take other copies from to give to friends.
I've had problems with bad quality CDs before. I'd go for the more expensive brands. You get what you pay for.
