Have been looking online for renwing my NIS - went to Foogle.co.uk and have been getting prices ranging from 14 to 50 -

Whats the catch with the cheaper ones ?

Does anyone know any reputable sites that do it at a reasonable price ?

There are loads of FREE programs that are just as good as NIS.

AVG Anti Virus

Zone Alarm Firewall

Adaware

WinPatrol

I use all of these and never had a problem (note these companies do SELL software but also make free versions of the above if you look around their site).
VHG is almost right. The products he mentions are not "as good as" Norton, they are better by an order of magnitude :-)
As mentioned in Norton I. S. problems.....help! (10ClarionSt Thurs 01/02/07 20:12 )
This is what happened to this user>>
In December, I bought Norton Internet Security 2007. When I installed it, it made my computer very poorly. I couldn't open lots of programs because of it, and I had loads of trouble accessing the internet. So I uninstalled it. Or so I thought until I tried to install McAfee instead. That wouldn't install because it said NIS was installed. I went to Add/Remove programs and there was NIS, even though I'd uninstalled it. When I click "remove", I get a message that says the module can't be found. What the fcuk is going on here? How do I get NIS of my computer? I suppose it has made it very safe, as I can hardly fcukn use it! Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

For those who are thinking about Norton dont do it as basically takes over your computer unless you configure it correctly which is difficult. When so many free antivirus and firewalls out to download, why pay money for something that will slow your computer down. Having a few anti virus progs, and ad ware progs will do just fine.

Maybe try a system restore to a date before you installed NIS, or maybe try looking in your system device manager to try and disable the prog.

I agree with VHG progs also such as windows defender, and windows own firewall does the job for me
