After the last few months I'm considering relocating from Manchester for a fresh start. and eventually a possible career change but sticking with practicing law for now to consider my options. Been asked by recruitment consultant to brainstorm places I'd consider relocating to.

The question is where to go (or not go haha)! Not somewhere in the middle of nowhere, like quite scenic places esp by the sea with a good town/city centre nearby for work and shopping and such and good transport links if poss for getting about to see friends.

Have been considering the Brighton area on the south coast and maybe Bristol way as have friends there.

Anyone any ideas and suggestions and with an indication of how expensive living there is and such?

Hi Jenna, why not move just a few miles down the road to Chester ? you will probably remember what a great place it is from your time in North Wales, and you aren't far from the glorious Coast we Have in North wales, and the centre of Chester is so old and full of character, if you go south what about Rye that is Glorious, good luck,Ray xx
if you like the idea of Brighton then consider moving to Worthing ~ only a short distance drive or train (about 15 miles) and much cheaper property :o)

We have all the shops you will need for day to day and weekend blow-outs...but you can still visit Brighton for exclusive stores/boutiques/eateries & clubs. There are also some lovely scenic views, and the beach is much quieter.

Just call me Judith Chalmers!
Hastings is also very 'up & coming' according to Kirsty Allsopp..
move up to northumberland. mucho money to be made. and some very reasonable housing prices aswell.
you could just say anywhere, keep your options open, and follow a job, rather than deciding where to live and then looking for the perfect job in that locality?
If you have friends in Brizzle then you already know its pretty brilliant. I like it there, its a good gateway to the better coastline of the uk anyway, if that is definitely on you list but you are still looking at a 2hour drive to get to somewhere nice. To be honest if I was already based in Manchester I couldnt see myself dreaming of moving, I think its ace there, lovely atmosphere and good gig circuit. Its just too up north for my liking and I dont know enough people up there.

I'm keeping my mind pretty open at the moment but recruitment people have asked for some ideas to target a search.

Brighton appeals as there's sea, things going on, close to London although I have just checked out the property prices...eeek!

Any chance of you moving back to good old Shrewsbury Jenna? Probably as much chance as myself going back. I did actually go there for a little shopping trip today though with the nipper, and some prat had been tearing up 10 notes in Butcher Row by The Prince Rupert Hotel.

Where I am now is even smaller and got zero prospects for furthering your career unless you happen to be Polish.

How about Oxford or Bath?

Or stick a pin in a random place on the atlas you never know?
What about East Anglia? In Norfolk you have Norwich (brilliant for shopping) and lovely scenery with the Broads and the coastline. In Suffolk there is Ipswich and not far from Cambridge and again, great scenery, including a beautiful coastline. There is a good court network round here and a great legal network.
Jenna come to New Zealand. I promise you wont be disappointed. Scenic, beautiful beaches that are not crowded, great people, good weather most of the year, cheaper cost of living. You can do worse! But good luck whatever you decide.

Ray -where abouts in North Wales are you. My brother lives in Queensferry. That anyway near to you?
Chit Chat, Queensferry is not far from my sister she's in Holywell.
Hi chitchat, queensferry about 30 mile away, I am in Conwy valley. New Zealand sounds beautiful, my sister was there and Oz for 6 months last year loved it, went Whale watching while in New Zealand.
Ray - I know I am very lucky to have the opportunity to live out here. And its so lovely - even the 45 min train journey to work is relaxing because of the scenary.

Mind I always though North Wales was lovely too.
