Firstly, All the freeview boxes I've seen have 2 scart sockets, IN and OUT. Is this the case? You can use the 2nd Scart socket on your TV for the dvd player.

Yes, the freeview does have 2 scart, sorry! - does this mean then 1st scart on tv into freeview and then diasy chained into vcr, and using the 2nd scart on tv for the dvd? Is that the best way?
i would have thought aerial into freeview into VCR into TV (one chain). then dvd into TV (separately)
Yes, that sounds the best way. I have satellite as well, so I use the AV2 on the TV for satellite & dvd.. I use a 2 into 1 box for these two. I have to turn either the satellite or dvd to stand-by or they interfere with each other.
