Does anyone know who wrote the children's book "Today's The Day"? Has anyone else actually heard of it?

Whoops, this is my first time using this site. I made a mistake in the title as you can probably guess.

Unfortunately that is not the book...I've seen that one myself whilst looking for the one I am searching for. The one I am looking for is about vegetables and things that do a race. There are two peas in a pod who are twins and an old man who is a kernal of corn or something and Fergus, a mushroom...and they go on about "step by step, little by little"... It seems that book websites don't have it listed anywhere...so I fear it is out of print...
