hi

my car alarm is not switched on but it keeps going off when the car moves.

we have just connected a new battery and the car starts as usual, but as soon as we start to move it goes off again and can only be turned off by switching the car off...?

the other day it went off while driving down the road too

any ideas why this is happening?

it is a 12 year old peugeot 405 auto estate, petrol

many thanks for any advice

Hi there Joko.
Only a suggestion, but i deal with a lot of motorcycle alarms, and occasionally if you remove the vehicle battery the alarm will notice ( on some Alarm modules ) a voltage differential and trigger, even though it has it's own PP3 battery inside the module.

I would think that the alarm is in service or 'valet' mode, and could require re-setting. The alarm documentation would tell you better if you have it - if not supply the alarm make/details and i'm sure that we can all find some documentation for it.

Look forward to the reply.

...just another thought.. you say that it triggers when you move the car. This is more than likely to be the motion sensor, which would suggest that the alarm is 'confused ' about it's state.
Is it a factory fitted alarm or something from Halfords?
