Geological processes push up mountains, which then wear down with wind and rain.
The youngest mountain ranges are therefore the highest, and are still "growing" -- Alps, Andes, Himalayas etc.
Old ranges are low and rounded, and are shrinking -- Appalatians, Grampians etc. The fastest "shrinking" should therefore be where the rainfall is highest.
