How do TV organisations find out audiance figures for shows? Do they take into account the people in clubs and pubs watching a football game.

check out http://www.barb.co.uk/about.cfm?report=qanda&flag=about. I don't think pubs and clubs are taken into account.
they get a percentage of the population to put a box on the top of the tv and everytime they change the channel they have to tell the box. then the tv people work out the proportion of their sample tht watches the show and timess that by the percentage. they give the people a bit of money and make sure that its a stratified sample (ie. old ppl, young ppl etc)
