I've just checked my favourite site for cheap accommodation:
http://www.hostelworld.com/
(Don't be put off by the word 'hostel' in that name. They list hotels as well).

The Acorn Lodge Hotel has only one customer review. This is it:
"Acorn Lodge Hotel was a nice little B & B run by a lovely lady who makes you feel at home. The room was fantastic and the cooked breakfast was something of restaurant quality. The location isn't very good if you don't have a car, as it would be quite a walk to the city centre. The streets are also a little confusing with all the hills, because the local map supplied is really hard to follow. But the actual lodge was great"

For the random dates I've just checked (in March), the prices quoted were between 22.50 and 25.00 pppn for b&b.

The Daylesford Hotel, on the same website, also looks attractive but it's dearer and there are no customer reviews to guide you.
