floppy disks do not respond

over several years i have noticed that floppy disks do not respond whether full or empty and cause my pc to crash?(yes i know wthere are cd-rs) but doesn't explain the crashes

Has it been inactivated in the BIOS? Maybe the work on the floppies are contaminated. Have you tried loading a floppy that you know is ok?
Or try using the same floppy disk on a different computer, could be your floppy disk drive is on its way out, USB pen drives are more reliable, just in case your not aware...

thanks just checked a new one which i filled with data and its okay.......but as for tomorrow ..who knows?
