I'm looking at buying a new laptop but I know nothing about them. What should it have on it for example whats a good memory size? pentium? I have no idea at all so all the help would be great. I on;ly need to use it for the internet, downloading, university work, just the normal things really.

Try putting this in the Technology section, or even Technology then Computers.
If you intend to do much work with numbers "excel" etc., get one with a math co-processor.
Built-in wireless with on/off switch helps with battery time.
You can get a fairly decent Pentium Core 2 Duo (2 x 2Ghz+) with 1GB of RAM and a 120GB hard drive for around �600. DVD rewriters are pretty much standard these days. Chuck in a Mobility X1600 or a GeForce GO7900 graphics card and you can add a hundred quid on top. Most of the major electronic stores have very good offers at the mo and you will more than likely get a free upgrade to Vista.
