m25 road signs

Has anyone seen the signs on the M25 on blue boards pink wiriting eg "m25 A 167.8" ?? then go about 100 yards and see "m25 A 167.7" etc etc Due to the fact they are not a mile apart its not distance and other side of road same signs with m25 B etc I know Im sad but what are they ?

Its kilometres to or from the start of the motorway at the southern side of the crossing at Dartford. A or B denotes whether you are on the clockwise or anticlockwise side.

Used by people such as gritters who have to note precisely what they have done.

I was waiting for someone to say the M25 hasn't got a start, but it has!
Indeed it has, and it does not form a complete circle. The stretch encompassing the Dartford Crossing (the bridge and the tunnels) is actually the A282, and is not part of the M25.
JudgeJ answer worries me. Does that mean 'L' drivers can use the Dartford bridge?
Yes it does - When I was going over to watch THE GILLS a couple of weeks ago there was a mob of lads on their L-plated scooters going over the bridge.
