I am the main user of a computer which nevertheless needs, with all but my private content, to be accessible to a select few others. Up to very recently I was very happy that file names were listed (in W-XP) without the extensions because this meant renaming, etc. was rather easier than when one needs to beware of interfering with the extensions. Now someone who does not follow the standing instruction of read only and non-interference with any settings has seen to it (albeit perhaps unintentionally) that everything is listed as .doc, .pdf, .jpg, etc. How do I return to plain names ?
