dishwasher temperature ... 55 degrees or more???

my dishwasher has a seperate button that just says 55oC on it.

is this more, or less, than it usual wash temperature?

i like to get a better quality of wash from it but its hard to judge which one works best.

shall i turn it on or not?

Just had a look at the dial on mine it has normal 50 deg.
two 55 deg. options and a super hot 75 intense option.
If my memory serves right, when we had new heating and water system put in, the EU boys directive says 60 degrees for tap hot water ( after nearly losing the skin off hands , and lowering it for kids and grannies protection ) I can tell you 55 is degrees bloomin' hotter than I could stand- for my hands in a sink of dirty dishes!
Mine just does 65˚ with intensive normal and eco settings - the difference is just the length of the cycle.

55˚ looks like an economy setting, then
