Has anyone heard of Hoodia? It is apparently a type of diet pill that is made from a cactus that contains some fab ingredient helping to curb appetite. I have looked it up on the web and have come across lot's of sites selling it but I'm not sure whether they are genuine. Can anyone recommend a site that sells it?

Many many thanks and i will stop going on about weight and diets I promise!!!

Actually, I'm the same as you all my questions mainly are on diets !!!!!
And yes i've tried this, it did nothing for me and I wasted good money on it. One thing I do find works though is Phase 2 the carb blocking natural white bean tablets, I bought mine from Asda in the vitamin section, and when I am back on track following a healthy no fuss plan, take them 20-30 mins before you have your carbs and they do deplete around 66% of those carbs calories, I was at my slimmest while doing this combined with a healthy diet.
But don't take them if your meal doesn't contain proper staple carbs eg pasta, rice, potatoes etc as you will just waste your tablets as thats all they do, take away carb calories....
Hope this helps.....I'll subscribe to this thread !! and if you find any other miracles, i'll be glad to hear them !!

Thanks Tiger! Maybe you had bought some that were not the real deal? I tried some Hoodia gum a while ago and found they did nothing, but if you have a look here....

That was from 2003, and Hoodia obviously does exist. 4 years on, they must be available somewhere!

I had read some about Phase2. I will try them. I am complete carb addict! Have you heard of 5 HTP also? They are supposed to help prevent carb cravings / binging and curb the appetite. I wonder if Phase2 and 5HTP could be taken in conjunction?

i am constantly aware of what i should and should not be eating and ways to lose weight but the last 18 months or so have struggled big time (ive had a weight problem all my life) went to WW most of last year but just a complete waste of money - im now at my heaviest ever! dunno if your like me but i am not usually/often hungry but just eat for the sake of it...so its not an appetite suppressant that i need - just a miracle i think!! These Phase 2 things sound interesting though, i'll probably give them a go and hope they are not just another thing i can add to list of failures! But good luck in whatever you try.

Just read your thread on diet aids, the phase 2 sounds interesting think I will give it a try. I dont eat a lot of bread but I do eat white rice, porridge and jacket potatoes. Let you know how I do, thanks

I tried phase2 for a month and it had no visible effect. Except the 8.99 less in my wallet.
But like all these things it makes you think more about what you are eating which is always good.

Someone recently asked the same question about Hoodia on AB: I will see if I can find it.....
I have to say that I think all of these types of slimming pills are a bit of a con. You have to remember that if they really worked, there wouldn't be a need for anything else and they would probably be on presription by doctors, etc. There would also not be a single person on the planet over weight.

Best of luck in trying to lose weight. I would just advise that these are probably a waste of money.

I bought the phase 2 tabs and to be honest I found them hard to swallow - they are quite big and just made me gag!
