They come from your nose and ears, respectively.
'Snot' as you so delictely put it, is mucus which is created by glands in the nostrils, and it is designed to trap air impurities which would otherwise damage delicate membranes. Ear wax follows the same principle.

Thanks Andy.
They're both types of mucus that your boy oproduces to help protect our ear and nose canals. I presume they come from some kind of "mucus duct" the same as sweat and tears. I think the idea is that they stop dirt and nasties from entering, and also keep the nose moist to help prevent infection. Hope that helps - sorry about fingerpie's unhelpful answer - there's a lot of that about at the moment...
Sorry Andy, your answer wasnt here when I posted...
i read somewhere that the green colour of 'snot' is due to the pus content in the mucas and is quite a reliable indicator of infection.
IF WE DIDNT CREATE MUCUS YOU KNOW WE WOULD DIE. IF WE DIDNT DREAM WE WOULD DIE EITHER. EAR WAX IS CREATED TO PROTECT I THINK
