Myth! Your euro insurance covers you to drive on all roads.
But I have driven the Elysees and its a bloody nightmare be strong and watch out for te french taxi drivers they do not care. One tip, use the horn everyone else does.

Good luck

As drinki says it's a myth. For one thing if you did get hit by a car there DO NOT stop, you leave the roundabout and hope the guy follows you. One thing that non-french drivers have a tendancy to do which makes the situation worse, is they go round the roundabout on the outside! Go straight towards the Arc de Triomphe, (the cars will stop as everyone's looking through wing mirrors but pip at the same time to make sure) then once you're ready to come off it just go for it again. It's incredible the few accidents which happen on this roundabout, they generally happen when the cops start directing the traffic.......
It's every motorist's must to do it at least once in his lifetime!
