How can I speed up my computer?

My computer is running slower than it used to, (longer to start up and open some programmes) I have de-fragmented but this doesn't make much difference. Is there any simple way to fix this?

download "cc cleaner" free and clear out all your unwanted clutter if you haven't done so .this could speed up things
