I am desperate to start a family. We keep saying we will start trying when we have finished jobs on our house. I am starting to think that we will never be totally organised and we should start now. What do you think?? Can you ever plan these things or are you as well following your heart and taking the plunge??

If you wait until you can afford it, wait until this is right and that is right, you will be waiting forever, if you are happy in yourselves, go for it, we all all moan about the cost of having a baby but we all managed.

we were married 6 years before we started trying as we kept saying we couldn't afford it etc, but kept having nice holidays and doing stuff to the house and upgrading cars etc and in the end decided that we could have gone on forever like that so decided to go for it and I got pregnant practically straight away as Ratter says babies do cost but we managed
I didn't plan any of my 3 the first was a massive surprise as I was only 19 and had him at 20. We weren't in a great financial position at the time and are not in one now but having a child is far better then reaching perfection on your home. Plus you could be doing it up for a little ankle biter to come along and undo it all for you.

If you feel ready go for it at least you will have fun trying, the aim also is not to let it be your soul focus because the more you stress over it the harder it can be to become pregnant in a lot of cases.

thank you everyone, my thoughts exactly
having a baby isnt like an exercise or a chore to tick off like D I Y ,it is a lifetime commitment but preferable if both partners are in agreement

we boh really want kids!! It is just a bit nerve wracking as it is the unknown to us. I am totally aware it is a lifetime commitment which is why I dont want to rush into a decision.
