DVD+RW woes

i have a dual format dvd r/rw burner, with latest drivers and firmware, with latest nero. i can write +RW discs with no problem, but when copying files back to my hard disc, it takes ages compared to a +R disc. Is it the drive or dodgy discs?

The discs are 4x, but im writing at 1x, as i thought this could be the problem. like i say, it writes fine (?), but copying back to hard drive take ages.
