Windows Media Center edition is basically Windows XP Home with an extra front end added to allow you to use the PC to watch TV, play DVDs, plays MP3s and look at digital pictures.

It can also work with a remote control.

It is usually sold with PCs that have a TV card fitted.

I believe in Windows Vista, coming out soon, it has been built in and is not a separate product.

If you're at all familiar with Apple Macs, it's the same sort of interface as Front Row.
