Can anyone please tell me how one goes about becoming a Paramedic in the USA? I have 24 years experience as a Paramedic in London and would like to transfer. Would I have to re-train again from scratch or will they recognise my qualifications - I am also an RGN & RMN.

Thanks

Each individual State has it's own standards for certification. Most allow credit for pryor certification in other States as well as some foreign countries. Here's a sample web site for Florida: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/EMT-Paramedic/e mt-lic-requirements.html and http://www.nremt.org/about/nremt_news.asp

The more difficult objective, I expect, will be acquiring a green card work visa. Here's acouple of sites to help with that:

Best of luck!
