I have applied for a new tax disc online and as Del Trotter might say "It's in the post". It should be with me tomorrow (5 days wait, so far).
If I get stopped by the police, what is the worst that I can expect? (I am insured and an MOT isn't applicable). I do not have any points on my licence, yet.

Have you got your E Mail as proof.Mine came in 3 so you should have yours tomorrow.
All the police will do if your ID is easily confirmed is pass the details to DVLA (if they can be bothered). As they have the details nothing will happen.

You may also get a 7 day producer (licence and ins dox so carry them on you for the next few days)

Do not worry.

Thank you for your answers. I'm not quite sure what to do now!
dont drive the car untill you have tax disk, dont know about your area but police are in full force around ours xmas is around the corner and so are the drink drivers ,so they are pulling loads anyway.

This is from the DVLA site:

I have not received the tax disc. Can I use the vehicle without the tax disc displayed?

It is an offence to use a vehicle on a public road without displaying a valid tax disc.

The tax disc arrived in the post today - I'm legal now. What a relief! Thank you everyone for your advice.
