A friend has noticed her roof shifting & has had people out to check it out & been told she will also need the ceiling redone.. The insurance co. will not cover it. It is an x council house & they have been told the marterials used have not lasted. The insurance co. state it is wear & tear. Any ideas how she may get help or claim for repairs. They are family of 3 with both adults working . But are unable to cover the cost of this.

Your friend will obviously have buildings structure insurance and I would have thought something like this would be covered. Suggest to her that they contact an independent building survey and ask for him to provide a report which they can pass to the insurance company.
How long ago did they buy their house from the Council and did they commission an independent survey at the time? if so, did this give any hint of this problem occurring?
