Is this possible as my neighbour says her cat has it in his throat, the vet is treating it with anti-biotics. I thought it was a sexually passed-on disease, so how can this be (no silly answers please)

Some guy picked on the wrong pussy??
Question Author
That comes under the "no silly answers" - I really want to know.
Sorry!!

I found this, serious now!! http://www.fabcats.org/chlamydophilia.html
my cat had both herpes and chlamidia and I must admit that when the vet told me this I was shocked. Here was me thinking that he slept all day when I was out, but he had been having his pals over. He was neutered too!

The vet said that they are just bugs that animals get, I think that they both attack the upper respitory system. George had bad gums.

I knew from an early age that Koala bears were prone to chlamidia but, like you, I just guessed that they were pretty horny little monsters.

We live and learn.
No silly answers, so I shouldn't mention the budgie with cherpes?
did he get cheep medicine from the vet?

divegirl unfortunately over here we adopt ferral cats which are very nearly tame, and thus they are not injected and they mostly get these illnesses before we get hold of them.
just to add another diease into the mix cats can get AIDS,

I only know this because my partner has worked in Azerbaijan and the cats there have it.

And not to mention i was totally shocked by this revelation.

Yes pipsie, but it is a lightly different Aids in cats. My cat was innocultated against It and so the vet informed me about it.
