My 13 year old daughter is very self-conscious about a freckle on her face. It is about 2mm diameter.

The doctor wont recommend removal on nhs until she is 18.

Should we pay privately, and how much will it cost?

Get her some concealer, and teach her how to use it properly. Try and teach her to love herself, freckles and all before you go removing parts of her. She should be able to get over something so tiny. In the meantime even in the winter make sure she wears factor 15 plus sun protection cream everyday, it will help prevent more sun damage.
Depending where exactly on her face it is she could make it look like a Beauty spot with eye-liner pencil.

Thanks. Goodsoulette, we do teach her to love herself, but kids can be so cruel, and the media doesn't help. I just wondered how much it might cost to have done. WE know its all about confidence in being who/what she is, but I want her to have the facts too - we do live in an age where changing appearances is acceptable.

Cheers Dolly - I'll put this idea to her.
I'm a beauty student and in our make up class we use a product called veil. Its camouflage make up mainly used on people who suffer from scars, birth marks, vitiligo sufferers etc etc but can also be used in day to day make up. You can order online. Its approx 24 (with student discount).

You do get a lot of colours but you can put them to use in your own make up routine. I use the green to cover spots, the purple under my eyes to cover up dark circles. When I come back my holidays i use the tan colours to cover spots and dark circles.

it would be worth checking this out http://www.veilcover.com/
P.s if you do try this out a little goes a long way as I discovered. use the back of an eyeshadow stick to scoop a small amount out then use a make up brush - like and eyeshadow brush to smooth it down on the back of the hand then apply.
