Healthy fattening food.

Ok, so I went to the doctors the other day to be told that I am at least 2 stone under my ideal weight.

I was wondering if anyone had any other healthy food which is fattening e.g rice, boiled eggs etc, as I'd like to put on some weight without all the e numbers and stuff that are in typical junk food.

Avocado. Full of good fat
is cheese good? I have no idea but I'm addicted and I know that makes you put on weight. pasta helps as long as you dont burn it off and sit on your @rse all day :-) why are you under have you lost it through trying or thats just how it is

198x, I used to be very skinny when I was younger, have you lost this weight, through ilness, diet etc or have you always been slim. Also what age are you. If you want to gain weight you need to give consideration how best to do this and what foods to eat, whilst you need to increase your calorie intake to do this, using the wrong foods will not necessarily benefit your overall health. I managed to put on a stone by eating healthy foods and by taking protein drinks (I drank complan with milk, half a pint three times a day after meals) as I found there was only a certain amount I could physically eat. Discuss this with your doctor and perhaps asked to be referred to a dietatician for professional advice.

Anything dairy...... plus all types of nuts.... and drink gallons of ice cold milk, semi or full fat.... yum!
My boyfriend is on a mission to put weight on at the moment, he is also a huge health freak, living by the "we are what we eat" motto. He is upping his protein intake, so lean chicken, lean cuts of beef, tuna, eggs, soya foods. Hope that helps.
Go on the slim fast diet but ignore the rules. i.e don't replace a meal with one of their milkshakes have them aswell.

Slim fast milkshakes are actually quite calorific but contain wholesomeness.

Remember putting on weight shoould be the same as losing weight insofar as 2lb per week gain will be abaout right (1lb= 3500kcals)

2 milkshakes per day contain about 1000kcals hence 7000kcals a week (2lb)
Did your doctor tell you you should try and put on weight? Didn't he or she give you any advice? Provided you eat healthily and regulary and the doctor has ruled out an underlying cause of being underweight, then I shouldn't worry . If you suddenly increase your calorie intake, this could have knock-on effects by putting stress on your body, so do things gradually.
You should take up cooking, not only will you enjoy it but you'll want to try out new things every day which means more (yet healthy and fresh) meals per day and the more excited you are about cooking, the more you will eat (after all, how many chefs do you know who are actually thin??)

Thanks to all those who have posted.

I've always been a skinny person, so I haven't lost any weight or gone through any diets etc.

I didn't actually see the doctor, but instead the nurse. Who told me I should be about 72kg, but didn't say anything else about it.

I'm sure it's not really a health problem as such, but I know that I'm usually losing weight than putting it on.
72kg....How tall are you?
I'm about 59kg.....Just worked it out.

If you've always been skinny and haven't experienced a udden unexplained weight loss, then you sound perfectly healthy. I take the 'official' weight charts with a pinch of salt. I've always been told that my ideal weight is around 9.5 stone but have always been around 8.5 stone in my adult years and am perfectly healthy.
