I'm going to try to eat just meat and vegetables for dinner and leave carbs like pasta & rice for lunchtime.
Can anyone tell me what to use in a stir fry of say chicken and beans or broccoli , as I think the packet mixes have lots of sugar and/or salt. thanks..

If you cook the chicken and then add things like bean shoots and peppers and onions and slice up some runner beans and mushrooms and brown up all of that add some soy sauce over the top.....and voila!......stir fry is one of those things i've found where you can put in what ever you like really.....hope it turns out ok
A healthy condiment I use when I eat plain meat and veg together is Miso paste (in a jar). You can get it at any health food shop. It tastes salty has a buttery texture and is dark brown in colour. It is actually made out of soybeans so it is a good source of vitamin B12 and protein. It is a healthy alternative to salt.

You could add a chinese oxo. Lovely!
If i have stir fried chicken and veg, i usually add a teaspoon of paprika and loads of lime juice, simple, low fat and yummy.

Chinese Oxo ????? is that a new stock cube.....
For a bit of crunch dummkopf, add some peanuts or cashews, canned water chestnuts (sliced first - some are already prepared for you). Teriyaki sauce (japanese) is an alternative to soy sauce (lighter and marvellous for marinades for all kinds of meat), having said that, part of the ingredients in it are soy! Try toasted sesame seeds (dry fry in a wok/frypan till golden) brings out the delicious nutty flavour in them before adding to your stir-fry. You can make a batch to keep in a small container, ready to add anytime.

Both Oxo and Knorr do stock cubes for Chinese/Indian/Italian etc to add to your cooking.

I found those stock cubes yesterday in the supermarket hadn't noticed them before, thanks for the replies
RLM is right, you can put anything in a stir fry and it will taste gorgeous.... and being half chinese, I always add ginger, spring onions and garlic and I almost always cook stir-fries with sesame oil, drizzling sesame seeds on after its cooked. The I just add a bit of soy sauce, fish sauce, saki and or a splash of chinese rice wine. And always make sure you never over-cook the veg by leaving it nice and crisp.... I never bother to measure anything and it always tastes lovely.... x
