My fiesta key suddenly decided to stop opening my boot and passenger door. The key is worn so thought it might be that so I took it to a key cutters to enquire. 55 they said it would cost!!! Is this ridiculous to anyone else? They say that Ford would charge 90 and if I had the master key (am a bit worried as I was given two spares and no master key when I bought the car over a year ago) it would be 25. Something to do with the immobiliser red bit on the key apparently. Any ideas if I could get it done cheaper elsewhere? Thanks.

If you want the master key copied ( the bit with the immobilser chip in it that you use in the ignition and also fits all the doors ) it will cost about 90 - I enquired a few months ago about getting a spare cut fo rmy wifes fiesta - you can get a valet key cut for a few pounds.
As far as I'm aware only Ford has the capability to code the chip in the new key.
before you get a key,try putting some WD40 in the keyhole and lube it. when i had a ford it was always getting a stiff lock?
