When you go to the dentists, what do they numbers mean that they call out to their assistant when they're fiddling around in your mouth?

Thanks for the link Larkin, though I don't think that's what he was referring to, as he was calling mainly 0's, with perhaps one or two 1's and then commented that I have a low score.
Was he assessing you for a private dental plan?

It was just a routine check up - he calls out numbers every single time, and just assumed that's what all dentists do! I've always wondered afterwrads what they actually mean!
He was probably referring to the depth of your sockets around your tooth - i.e. gum recession.
