Special section for Carers etc

This is in response to an idea from paulineward, which I think is excellent.

If there was a special section for carers and people who know carers, ideas and information could be passed on, tp the mutual benefit of all, and without cluttering up the other sections.

What do you all think?,

And what does our Editor think.

It's an ok idea as it would appear there are many here who would use the topic. Personally I wouldn't but then I only fleet in and out of about 4 of the topics anyway.

As already said there are many forums out there that deliver the same, but AB regulars may feel more comfortable getting responses from other ABers who may not be visiting such sites but may have some ideas.
I didn't see any sarcasm in Chill Winds response, I think someone above was just being negative or over-sensitive as is so typical on here sometimes.

Nonetheless, I am sitting here and wondering why (as this definitely passes for a suggestion) that there so far in the last 48 hours been no response from the AB Editor either encouraging or otherwise?
I dont see whats wrong with putting your worries or questions in one of the sections. We cant have a section for everything or every type of illness, singer, programme which is why we have these catergories. I think if people need specific help on caring and carers there are special websites dedicated to help :-) So even though a good idea to some I dont think answerbank will go for it.
go for it, anything that helps u guys out there help other people can only be a good thing!

4getmenot, thanks for your input, all views are welcome, and I somehow think your right about A/B not going for it, but we have to try, don't we.
Yes course you do lonnie, keep the campaign going. But I think you know from the lack of reply what response you're gonna get :-(
hey, keep hoping Lonnie. After all, Ed doesn't reply to 99.9% of all threads posted in suggestions......yet the odd wish still comes true (thanks again lovely AB Ed for the footie section btw xx) And some of those she did post on ended up on the "Top Ten daft but Funny Suggestions" blog she did not so long ago, so maybe no news is good news :o) x
Yes, it would have helped me when I was caring for my Mother-in-law. It's so isolating and frustrating isn't it
I asked for this last year and was told by ED that i should try using the Body & Soul section.
I found it to be too vaired and not enough people who knew about caring were using it.
I would LOVE to see a section just for us!!

C'MON ED......please......????.

Thanks for that info FlowerPetal, B&S is definateley not suited for this kind of thing, taking into account also, that some people only look at certain sections.

It may possibly have been, before CB was taken off.
Well Lonnie...it's not been through the want of trying has it?!
You have tried hard...hope it is successful. If not we'd have to think of where we could all post and use the same question heading so we knew it was a carer's question or comment. A site would be better though. All the best...anyway...take care-Pauline
Question Author
Thanks pauline, its nice of you to say that.
a really good idea its easier to talk to people who have experienced things first hand then the professionals who do not always take into account the bonds when caring for a relative
Did we get anywhere further with this thread Lonnie???

I think that if ED doesnt go for it, then using the same title for the thread is a great idea - at least that way, we would all know who we are aiming at and where we all are coming from - (if that makes sense at all??)

Please ED.......give us a sub-section??

Hi Flowerpetal, not a thing, I had even emailed the editor twice, mind you, this was just before we got a new ed, but even so, there are so many carers for so many different handicaps etc, it would have been good. never mind, maybe i'll re-post in a couple of weeks.
