Can anyone advice me on the best flower to plant around my borders, I would like small flowers about 3" high with plenty of ground cover which bloom every year.

Hi Babes, How about some low growing perennial geraniums. They will give you flowers throughout the summer and are very easy to keep. All you do is give them a haircut in the autumn and they willk bounce back in the spring.. Your local garden centre should have a good supply come the spring and dont forget to ask for advice etc - its free!! cheers skylight

You would have to start looking at some of the alpine species such as aubretia, alyssum saxatile, dianthus, erodium, erinus, arabis, sapponaria etc.

They will need a very well drained soil though so put plenty of grit in when planting.

Hi Hammerman

Been on line and saw what aubretia looks like, thats a good plant so is alyssumm. I might put geranium in the four corners and pots, and those other two around the border. Thanks, you and skylight have been really helpful. Think of you both when my garden is in bloom.
